devolve into the same situation as the 2.4 GHz band.

2.4GHz / 5GHz Industry Issues

• 2.4 GHz is being perceived as a band that is overcrowded

with incompatible protocols and interfering devices and

will result in dissatisfied WLAN users

• At 5 GHz

♦ Neither Hiperlan2 or 802.11a adequately addresses the issue of

low cost, low power, low speed devices

♦ Hiperlan2 and 802.11a have incompatible MAC/data link control

(DLC) layers
